Jesse Garnier is a Canadian entrepreneur and marketing specialist based out of Alberta. Growing up in a small heavy industrial town, Jesse had an interesting childhood, some would call it fortunate, some would look at it as a disaster with a happy ending.

Parents divorced at a young age, both re-married, which brought more influencers into his life. His mother, the most wonderful lady in the entire world (his idol), passed away from circumstances still undetermined when he was only 20 years old. This tore him apart.

His dad, one of the most genuine people you could ever meet, was all for job security, always pushing him to just get a secure job, with a steady shift, income, and benefits. His stepdad who owned his own trucking company in the oil and gas industry always taught him the value of hard work into something you believe in can result in much greater rewards both financially and if done right can provide the best lifestyle you could ever desire.

He worked hard from a young age always knowing he wanted to become his own boss, somehow, some way.  Every job he ever accepted, he would go into it with the mentality of “I am going to own this company someday!”  And 2 out of the 3 major jobs he ever had, he almost did end up owning the companies.

He always knew that if you want to get to the top, you have to go above and beyond in every area of the job, not just sometimes, but ALL the time.

Starting his full-time career in the oil and gas industry in Alberta at the age of 16 years old working for his stepfather’s trucking company, he decided the trucking industry was not the right industry for him.

He then moved onto drilling water wells for a company that serviced both oil and gas, as well as residential water wells, and Jesse loved this job.  He would go into it everyday learning and excelling to climb to the top of the company ladder.  At the age of 23, he and a fellow employee were approached and asked to purchase the company, which made Jesse extremely happy.

Due to unfortunate circumstances, the deal fell through which led Jesse into a downward spiral, both mentally and financially.  “Imagine getting so close to your goal, you can taste it, feel it, smell it, and it gets ripped out from under your feet,” says Jesse.

He ended up having to leave this company once he realised his chances of owning this company had come to an end.  All of this happened 6 days before his first child was born (A little boy).  Jesse’s career at this point in time felt like a disaster, having to find another job and start the entire process over again from ground zero.  Little did he know what the future was holding, and even less so did he understand the love and passion he could feel like a full-time family man.

After taking a few weeks off to be with his wife and newborn son, he did end up finding another job, but this time it was different.  He had no passion for this new position, he found himself starting to struggle financially and going further and further into debt every single month.

Roughly 2 years into this downward spiral, he was at an all-time low.  Already working 14-16 hours per day, with his bank account in the negatives, all credit cards and credit lines maxed out, he had to become resourceful.

“I had 2 options – 1. Claim bankruptcy.  Or, 2. Find a way to make an extra income, and I have never been one to settle for the easy road” said Jesse. At the time, knowing nothing about making an income online, he started to do some research.   He ended up finding a group of people who had a platform that he could leverage for some of the technology, and mentorship.

“All I wanted at the time was to make an extra $1500.00 per month,” says Jesse.

Little did he know that with the power of the internet, and people to show him the ropes, he would accomplish that within his second month of working online as a side income, while still working a full-time job at 14-16 hrs per day.

“Once I got a taste of what was possible, that is when I decided to go all in and see how far I could push this” – He says.

Quitting his full-time job only 74 days into starting this new venture, he eliminated all other options other than success!  “I had to eliminate my plan B, otherwise I would not have pushed as hard for success” Within his third month he had almost doubled his income from his full-time job.  And every month after that climbed higher and higher, all the way to his 12th month of working his online business where he had a goal of 6 figures in a single month, and he was very close to achieving it.

With more money flowing in than he knew what to do with, and growth faster than he could have ever imagined, this is where he started to slip.  Making investments that he never should have, and his ego started to get the best of him.  He was looked up to as a superstar within his community.  He was helping others achieve results very similar to his, and mentoring/training roughly 400 people on a daily basis, he started to slack off.

The income started to drop when his passion started to fade, and when his ego was continuously growing.  This was the most crucial lesson to date for Jesse.  This was a necessary part of the growth curve because, without it, he would have ended up in total self-destruction.

Jesse took roughly 6 months off when he realised that he had to check in with his ego, and just started to spend some time with his family.  Now, his son was around 2.5 years old, and his daughter being roughly 6 months old, he decided to take some time for them, and do some self-discovery.

Through his self-discovery phase, he started to learn more about himself, investing now in self-development, he started to find himself again.  After his 6 month part-time break from the business, he got back into it again full time and found himself even stronger than ever.

His team of people he mentored and trained were stronger, happier, and seeing more results than ever. Jesse has started to find the work/life balance that was required to build a strong, sustainable empire, and is now stronger than ever.  He has major plans of dominating in the industry AND being the family man that his wife and kids deserve!

Hey Jesse, can you introduce yourself to us?

My name is Jesse Garnier, I am a small town boy from Alberta, Canada and the quickest ways I have to sum myself up are an online/offline entrepreneur, leader, and influencer of many, and most importantly, a Family Man!

Can you take us through your entrepreneurial journey to where you are now?

There have been many ups and downs in my journey, but growing up always knowing I wanted to become my own boss, I have always been the type to work through any obstacle or problem that comes my way.  My biography above goes into a lot more detail.

What fuelled your initial passion for wanting to help others make that change in their life?

It started by just wanting to make a change in my life, but after seeing that it was possible for me to make a drastic change, I started to realise that there are many others who if they want more out of life, they also can have it.  My new mission is to show people that anybody can achieve anything they want, but they have to want it bad enough or it will not happen.  Awakening people to their highest potential is what fuels my fire!

What 3 key qualities do you think entrepreneurs need to possess in order to become successful at what they do?

  1. Maintain adaptability, in this fast-paced world, you need to either adapt or you will be forgotten, and it can happen quickly if you do not stay on top of it.
  2. Bea coachable, as you need to be coachable and realise that you can learn something from every single person you meet
  3. Have clarity. If you are not clear on what it is you want to create, and how you want it to be created, you are going into entrepreneurship blind, and yes, you may create some success without clarity, but if you do not know what it is you are creating, then how do you know if you achieve it?
  4. The ability to create WIN/WIN scenarios, I had to add this fourth quality in here just because it is so crucial to long term success.  If you can focus on always creating win/win scenarios in everything that you do, you will become successful. It is when there is a win/lose scenario that is when things start to fall apart.

With the instant glamorisation of instant overnight success, what are the pitfalls of entrepreneurship that you think our audience really needs to know?

It provides false hope. The struggles and hard times is what creates true entrepreneurs. If everybody just created success overnight, then we would not have any real entrepreneurs that would have the skills required to withstand the test of time.  Everybody wants success, but not many of us are willing to go through the countless failures and lessons it takes to achieve it.  My message to the audience is to embrace the struggle, learn from mistakes made by you or your mentors and adapt to the changes.  If you can do that over time, your success will be inevitable.

Where can you see yourself within the next 5 years and what plans do you have in place to expand?

Within 5 years I will be within the elite of the elite in the online marketing space. I will be one of the major trendsetters in the industry, and I will have directly helped over 10,000 people gain financial security and creating the life that they desire for themselves.  The ripple effect I imagine from that will be unimaginable, however, I expect it to be big.  I have a mission also for changing the way of traditional education and I am expecting to have that process started by that point.

What gives you ultimate career satisfaction?

Impact.  When I have an impact on somebodies life when they come to me and say “because of you, I did this, or I have this.” That is what gives me the ultimate satisfaction!

What challenges have you seen to have been presented during the growth of your career?

My biggest challenge was overcoming my ego. I have seen success fairly quickly, then I also seen it almost disappear just as quickly or even quicker.  Forcing myself to take a step back from my business to really redefine who I am as a person, father, husband, an entrepreneur was one of the hardest struggles I faced, but it was also one of the most fulfilling experiences once I found the answers.

How do you define your own success?

I do not define success solely as a monetary figure, however, there is part of me that does. I more define my own success as when I am able to wake up 7 days per week, 365 days per year and be excited to start the day.  When there are no days that I wish would speed up, and when I can ask myself these questions at the end of each day and the answer to all of them is yes.

  • Did I win today?
  • Did I impact somebodies life in a positive way today?
  • Is somebodies life better because I helped them today?
  • Did I make more money today than I spent?
  • Was today a win/win for every conversation I had?

What does #BEYOUROWN mean to you?

To me #BEYOUROWNMAN means, to be your own person.  Live your life within your individual values, your meaning and your purpose.  Too many of us live our lives on other people’s agendas that are not in alignment with our values or goals. Find people who live within their own values and if they match up with your values and goals, then see if you can work with those people.

Finally, what are you working on throughout 2019?

I have many big plans for 2019, I have just released a course on a lot of the missing pieces of the puzzle when it comes to creating success in any area of life. I have purchased many different courses and programs online and offline, that all focus on a lot of the technical skills, where I wanted to create a course that was based on a lot of the core areas that not many people are talking about.  For example, I have sections in there on how to stretch your comfort zone, how to get out of your own way, by getting out of your own head, Confidence, and many more key components that go into creating success.

Also, I am part of an organisation that is launching a platform that is going to take online marketing education to whole new levels that nobody else I have heard of are even talking about. Our model is “less Lamborghini videos, more realistic results.” Through this platform, I intend to mentor, train and assist in creating a lot of big success stories to really show the world the power of the internet.
